Geoff Slattery Publishing (GSP) has rapidly become a major independent publisher in Australia, building a strong catalogue of predominantly sports titles. Over the past three years they have included books such as James Hird; Challenging Times, by James Hird; Shane Crawford: EXPOSED, by Shane Crawford; and The Brownlow: A Tribute to the Greats of Australian Football.
GSP published the best-seller, After Bali, former AFL player Jason McCartney’s account of the horror of the Bali bombings and his long road to recovery. The book, which sold 85,000 copies, celebrates the triumph of the human spirit against adversity.

A Lifetime of Cartoons and Drawings

For more than two decades, cartoonist Mark Knight has been capturing the politics, culture and soul of Australia with his cartoons in the Herald Sun.
Knight’s cartoons have illustrated the major issues and events of his generation: wars, terrorism and natural disasters, political victories and scandals, major sporting events and royal weddings. His pen has drawn bitingly funny likenesses of figures including Paul Keating, Jeff Kennett, Pauline Hanson, Peter Costello, John Howard, Shane Warne, Russell Crowe, George W. Bush and the Queen.

Each edition includes a limited-edition, specially commissioned Mark Knight lithograph produced at the studio of master Melbourne printmaker Peter Lancaster, all signed and numbered by the artist. James Hird, Challenging Times

Who We Are

Geoff Slattery, the proprietor of GSP, is a distinguished name in the Victorian publishing scene. He worked as a journalist for 20 years on Melbourne’s major metropolitan dailies and was sports editor of the Melbourne Herald and The Sunday Age. In 1991 he co-founded the Text Media Group, before establishing Geoff Slattery Publishing/AFL Publishing in 1995 – now official publisher for the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL Publishing produces the weekly AFL Record, the AFL’s annual report, the annual AFL statistics guide and more than 200 other publications for the organisation. Geoff also established five eateries around Melbourne (including the Italy I group) and is the author of two cookery books.
 

Peter D'Onghia
is GSP's Associate Publisher. After completing his Honours Degree in Linguistics, Peter worked for Lonely Planet Publications in Melbourne. As Trade and Reference Publishing Manager, Peter developed many books and series including the multi-award winning World Food and Out to Eat series, and the best-selling Phrasebooks.
Peter was Country Editor of the 2004 Age Cheap Eats Guide and then moved to Dubai to work for the Middle East's premier book publisher, Explorer Publications.
